Urban Marginalia

Book Design, Cover design, Editorial Design, Print, Publishing

Urban Marginalia is a book design project conceived as a conceptual extension of the exhibition, moving beyond the traditional catalogue format into a self-standing editorial narrative. The publication combines the photography of Alberto Petrò with texts by Marcello Barison, Gerhard Glüher and Alessandro Mombelli.

The editorial design is rooted in a radical interpretation of marginality: the layout system is built around margins as active elements, with displaced text blocks, unconventional page numbering, and fluid typographic hierarchies. Combined with the use of natural, uncoated paper that absorbs images without gloss, the book becomes more than a container of content—it acts as a coherent visual and conceptual language that directly embodies its theme.
